Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

Optimize Performance, Ensure Reliability: Your Path to Maintenance Excellence

OVERVIEW

The “Reliability Centered Lean Maintenance – RCM” methodology aims to ensure maximum system performance in terms of physical availability, operational reliability, safety, maximum service life and optimal cost, with the main purpose of producing the quantity, time, cost and quality required by the customer.

All of these aspects above will be achieved through the optimization of maintenance actions represented by optimized work plans.

The exclusive characteristics of the RCM methodology are the preservation of the System Function (Reliability); the identification of functional failures and dominant failure modes; the identification of potentially suitable types of Maintenance activities through a decision diagram and the selection of applicable and effective tasks.

The main benefits of the RCM methodology are the provision of rational bases for the Maintenance Plan; reducing maintenance costs (preventive maintenance); increasing the availability of the facility and forming a systematic basis for the continuous improvement process.

Maintenance Shutdown & Turnaround

A maintenance shutdown is a very critical event for industrial facilities due to the large number of resources involved in a short period of time. This characteristic has a direct impact on reliability issues, as well as on occupational health and safety, which can have a direct impact on the safety of the production process.

Therefore, developing a maintenance shutdown plan is vital to ensure the best use of limited resources, so that all activities classified as necessary to be carried out during the period determined for the shutdown are completed according to the service schedule, without any interference or obstacles being created to prevent the main objectives (scope, deadline and cost) of the shutdown from being achieved.

The 12 (twelve) basic principles of the “Planning Function” will be presented, in order to ensure that its fulfillment is carried out in a productive manner for the entire maintenance shutdown project. To complete this learning, the 10 (ten) PMI knowledge areas will also be developed, adding the issues of health, occupational safety and the environment.

The aim is to provide participants with an overview of best practices for implementing performance indicators that allow for better management of results for all measured processes.
