He is a chemical engineer. His thesis dealt with heat integration and the use of heat pumps in industry. He was one of the founders of the Austrian consulting company STENUM GmbH which has dealt with resource efficiency in production and service industries since 1992. STENUM has worked for more than 2000 companies of different sectors (steel production, metal manufacturing, plastics, fine chemicals, power plants, food processing and beverages, wood processing, pulp and paper, textiles, tanneries) in over 30 countries (Costa Rica, Colombia, Nicaragua, Brasil, India, China, Philippines, Korea, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Ghana, most European countries, Russia, Kasachstan, Ukraine). He is the author of about 50 mostly peer reviewed papers and a book (in German, translated to English and Spanish). He has provided consulting to corporations such as Mercedes Benz, Philips, 3M, SAB Miller, SAPPI, Novartis, Rio Tinto, RHI, Styromag, Idemand many more…
